cannot install rpm's with yast using command-line
Hello all,
I am installing rpms over a remote connection to a server using Yast from the command line. This problem is, is that Yast only downloads them, but the packets are not installed. I check everything after it "installs" them, but it shows in the list that the packets are still not installed. Would a system update fix anything or do i have to configure some setting in Yast here?
Thanks ahead of time for the help!!!

I have ran that command and it returned a "command not found" error. I checked in yast to see what packages were installed and I saw that libzypp was installed. Is there another packet that I need to install for zypper in order to use it?
And the this with yast is that it is like it is frozen in terms of allowing packages to be installed on yast. I havent had this problem before, and have no idea why it wont install any packages through yast. You have any suggestions or ideas of why it is not working properly?

What version of openSUSE are you using? zypper is available in openSUSE 10.3, but not in older versions.

I have suse 10.1 running on a remote machine. Are there any bugs concerning Yast with this version of suse linux?

In terms of package management 10.1 was one of the worst openSUSE releases. Many users (including myself) opted to use SMART instead of YAST for package management.

Alright, is there a way to get around the endless search of dependencies after dependencies. I tried to install smart and it came up with two things that need to be installed. I got those packages and tried to compile it with "rpm". But it gave me around 7 other dependencie packages that I need for the previous ones. From what I see, I will be unable to install smart becuase of the endless search for these damn dependency packages packages. I wish I didnt have to deal with 10.1...
Is there anyway around this here?

You should be able to install SMART using YAST.
