SAMBA on, SAMBA off, SAMBA on .........
Hi guys
I have some problems with a SuSE 10.3 box that I've got. I've got samba on it which is using ads authentication instead of a local smbpasswd file. I've not made the effort with winbind so each user who wants to access the machine has their own user account in the same name as their windows domain user account. Every thing is all hooked up and for the most part working, the problem is that my users can go in and out of their in quick succession fine but for no reason suudenly they'll get acccess denied messages or freeze ups.
If i restart smb and nmb in /etc/init.d all seems to go again but for how log? Sometimes its five minutes sometimes its all afternoon
Log ons at the machine itself have also been glitchy too.
I'm wondering about services so I've turned of the X server for the time being to see if that'll help but I'm wondering if anybody here has any suggestions or has any experience of such instabililty.
Thanks in advance" I didn't know it was a picture of his wife! I thought it was a publicity shot form Planet Of the Apes."

Same problem here
Using standard smb pass authentication, AMD64 and my setup is pretty much the same as I've done with SUSE 8.x,9.x and 10.2.
I don't need to do any restart of smb as a reconnect by any of the users works after a couple of mins of freeze out.

I've set
socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY
dead time = 15
getwd cache = yes
Seems a lot faster and more stable
