    Problem with low disk space

    Hi

    I hv a problem of disk space that i overlooked at the initial stage. Now, after log in as root, i got message "you have mail" & "have a lot of fun"...

    i try to start in failsafe and using CD, but still have the same error message. Kindly assist me.

    You could use a livecd like gparted too resize your partitions

    If your disk is full just from /tmp or /var/logs you can mount the drive with a livecd and clear it manually. Otherwise I'd go with scrarfussi's option.

    I'm kind of lost here, what does having mail have to do with the disk space? The mail message is not an error and it says nothing about having a full disk. Generally you can deal with mail with the mail command.

    I get the impression he means he was dropped to a terminal login instead of X starting, or that possibly even the login prompt is not coming up. I've seen both on full partitions.
