    ethernet address of machine one hop away

    how can we find the ethernet address of a machine , one hop away from my machine?

    for my machine i would say

    ip link show eth0

    But for one hop away?? any idea?

    If your workstation has communicated to another TCP/IP device ... an ARP entry will be created.
    You can view the ARP table:
    $ arp -a
    ARP entries will expire.
