Firefox Java plug-in for Opensuse 10.2/64 - is default OK or must 5.0?

Apparently the java run time engine (JRE) is installed since the YAST2 Software Managerment sub-section shows a checkmark at the "java_1_5_0-sun" package which is described as the Java Runtime 5 package. However the only browser plugin is listed as "java_1_4_2-sun-plugin" and is unchecked. My question is whether this is OK? Even if so is the 1_5 preferred?
