Smile installing k3b on suse 10.x

Hi, I am a newbie to suse a recent convert from mickysoft dungeon.

I have installed suse and all the required components, (thanks to a whole heap of info in net).

I am having trouble install K3b v1.05 on my suse, it is failing on a dependency which is libdbus I think.

can some one help me please??
also when I try to run yast to update, it is still failining on dependencies..
I would be greatful if someone could point me the right direction.

    Thanks

How exactly are you trying to install k3b? Can you also give us more details about the dependency error you say are causing yast to fail to update.

Hi sorry for the later reply...
I currently have k3b installed but I am trying to upgrade using the Yast Software updater.

it says it is missing libdbus-1.so.3 and that there are no installable packages available in the software sorces.

I did do a look around in the web and cant seem to download dbus library.

Also my second question is how do I effieciently use yast, because every update says that resolve conflicts with yast, and I am not sure how to resovle it.

    Thanks
    Naleen

It could be that your installation sources need to be refreshed. Go to YAST -> Software -> Software Repositories and choose to refresh your repositories.

Hint- Unless you know what you are doing you should only install via Yast. How did you install kb3 in the first place?? If you downloaded and hand installed from some site other then a Suse repository there can be problems.

Best solution uninstall kb3 and reinstall properly from Yast. Be sure you have your repositoreis set up.

Hi, thanks guys for quick response,
the current k3b was installed when I installed the KDE. so yes it was installed from yast.

I did try the yast -> software refresh, but did not seem to take effect.
can any one tell me what software repository I should be using?

    Thanks again.

You need too add some yast sources other wise your yast won't work properly add the packman repo and the kde 3 this will solve your dependency problems as well as give you the latest version of k3b
