Invalid system clock?
Hey,
I've got a problem with my system clock. I have to set it up whenever I boot my computer because it always goes a few minutes past. How can I solve that problem?
Thank you for help.

You can set the clock features in Yast-Hardware-Date Time
I believe that your hardware clock is off. You can set it in the BIOS
If you always have a Internet connection you can set the time from a NTP server.
In KDE right click the clock
select Adjust Time and date
Check mark Set Time and Date Automatically
press configure
Note if you do not have an always on Internet ie dialup or may note be connected (ie Notebook) avoid this since it will slow the boot looking for the NTP server and won't be able to connect.

hi all, I agree with gogalthorp, but perhaps you problem is due your computer battery. Sometimes When you experience a lack of coordination in the clock maybe due to the level of the computer battery. This battery does that is stored, among other things, the hour and date of the clock of the computer and the bios settings.
Try to change this battery, it's placed in the motherboard
I hope that helps
Cheers

Thank you for your help! I used the function "Date Automatically". Now it looks like it works =)

Well you still have a problem with the hardware clock maybe the battery.
If the Machine is older then 3 years you should replace the small battery on the motherboard that keeps the time when the power is off.

The machine is about 5 years old, so you're right. I should better replace the battery... Do I have to pay attention to something when changing the battery? Isn't it like a BIOS reset when you remove the battery?

If you do the switch quickly it should be alright. The CMOS should hold for a couple of minutes.
