End of Support Dates
OpenSuSE 11.0 is due for release within 24 hours, and I am trying to plan what I am going to run on various computers. Unfortunately, part of planning requires that I know when support ends for various versions. The last time I did this was a couple of years ago, and I think I had problems finding termination dates even back then. This morning I took a couple of hours and I still have not found the information. This is what I need to know:
1. When does support for 10.2 end? This is the big question because I am still running 10.2 on a fairly heavily used box. Since 11.0 is coming out "right about now" I made sure I updated everything last night, so I would avoid server problems on the distribution computers. However, this might have been the last set of updates that will be available for 10.2. I do not remember if they provided any overlap time beyond the 11.0 release date. I think all the OpenSuSE support periods were "fixed length" at 2 years. Does anyone know?
2. Likewise, I would like to know the end of life for 10.3. This is not quite as important.
3. And finally, does anyone know the support life for Novell Enterprise SuSE 11 when it comes out next year?
The reason exact length of 10.3 is not so important is because I think that I will eventually convert to Enterprise 11 next year, so I am fairly sure that I could either use 10.3 (which I have right now) or download OpenSuSE 11.0 sometime later this week (when it might be a bit less busy) and either one would be supported past the release of Enterprise 11.
Eventually, I will get around to discussing this "hard to find" information with them, but right now, I just want to find out what I need to know.

The answers to most of your questions are here. The SLES/SLED releases are usually supported for 5+ years.

Yes, many thanks. I have all the information I need. I might change my mind, but since 10.2 will be supported till the end of November, I think I will wait a few weeks and download OpenSuSE 11.0 to replace 10.2. That will give me well over a year to upgrade later to Enterprise 11. If things do not settle down for me, I might actually need all that time to get around to Enterprise 11.
