openSuse 11 Audigy 2 ZS
I just installed opensuse and everything went flawlessly except that nothing comes out of my sound card. It is recognized and configured correctly, its just that nothing plays. I remember having this problem on another distro and i solved it by turning an analogue/digital switch on, however i cannot for the life of me find where to do this in opensuse 11. Any ideas?

Yep, the sound is often muted by default.
In Gnome, look under System / Sound
Under KDE, look at Multimedia / Kmix
If they've messed around with the menus in Suse and you can't find it, you might be able to run kmix from a terminal and get it to start.oz

Some Soundbalster card require that your user is a memer of the audio group.
See if it works if you log on as root. If so you need to add the audio group to your user profile.
Also you may need to run alsaconf as root. So that the alsa system will know about your card.
alsa is Advanced Linux Sound Architecture
