    usb disk icon remains after unmount

    OS: SLES 10 SP2

    Problem1(very rare):
    umount the usb disk, remove/disconnect the usb disk from the system, but icon remains on the desktop.

    the "Prblm1-1.png(attached)" shows that icon is still on the Desktop, but the device is not mounted... not even connected/attached with the machine.

    the "Prblm1-2.png(attached)" .... when I tried to unmount the already unmounted disk by right click on the icon(KINGSTON) > Unmount .. and the error is obvious because the disk is already unmounted.

    but why the icon remains on the desktop... why ?

    Problem2(very common):
    a, unmount the usb disk by right click on the icon(KINGSTON) > Unmount, but icon(KINGSTON) remains. (prblm2-1.png .. attached)
    b, When I double Click on the KINGSTON .. i got the error (prblm2-2.png .. attached)... its obvious because the usb disk is already unmounted.

    c, but when I unplug/disconnect/remove the usb disk from the system.. icon removes/disappear... and this is OK. but "a" is not OK.

    Regards

    Those icons usually remain on my desktop, too, but they go away after removing the device. Is this not the case for you?

    If the device didn't remain on the desktop, but were still plugged in, it would be harder to determine if it were mounted or not before removing it. I always double-check just before removing the device to make certain it is in fact unmounted before unplugging it.
