Red face suse 11 nvidia driver

Have Installed SUSE 11 and installed the nvidia driver as per the instuctions. Now I can only start the display by adding the instruction x11failsafe to the startup screen. I believe there is a configuration file that can be edited but I need assistance with the location and what actually needs to be done. Any assistance wold be greatfully accepted.

The file is /etc/X11/xorg.conf (edit as root)

change "NVIDIA" or "NV" or "vesa"

Note this will kill 3D until you can successfully install the NVIDIA driver.

a Manual install may help but you will also need to install gcc and kernel-source
Then go to the NVIDIA site find the driver for your card, download and follow what is termed the "hard" method in the Suse instruction link.

What card or chipset do you have? If an older card then you may need to download an older driver.

Thank you for your assistance and sorry for the slow reply as I have been away for the weekend. The video card is listed in the Nvidia list of supported cards, gforce 6200. I managed to get the driver working by using the Nvidia installation package.
