How to make desktop icons smaller?

Hi everyone. I know it may sound like a stupid question, but I just can't tackle the problem. I would like to have smaller icons on my desktop in suse 10.2, but just don't know how to do that. Even if I increase the resolution, that changes all my desktop items: windows, bottom bar, etc., except my desktop icons Any suggestion welcome.
