Need audio recording editing software for suse 10

I want to be able to put soundtracks onto my next website. A young man I know advised me to buy a stereo interconnect cable and download an audio and editing software program that my suse 10 os could handle.

I bought the cable; but I do not have the faintest idea what, easy to use, software program is compatible with a suse 10 gnome desktop. Can anyone, please, offer me some advice about this?? Thank You!

I usually look around for various software options at Linux App Finder:

To edit sound files, use Audacity. It should be available for installation through YaST.

Many of the extra files that I need to download for Audacity are no longer available for Suse 10. I downloaded Ardour and got a square with a green foot in it that I can not open.

Frustrated I checked the media box in updates and found Qa record and Sound Recorder. I can turn on my computers speakers and hear the tape I am trying to record into the computer but I can not as yet get them to work. Something is jamming the stream.

There is definately something screwed up with the Sound Recorder software on my computer because a " force quit " has to be used to get it to close. However I was able to use qaRecord to eventualy create a file from my tape player; but the only thing that will play it is Kaffeine.

One of the things I downloaded is Manauton. I had gotten to the very last step in the terminal installation before the lack of two things prevented the final installation. ( It would have been only the second time I used the terminal with any success. )

It would have been just great if I had been able to use Manauton to create the sounds for my next website. Oh well I finally will be able to get a full nights sleep. Thank You for the help, Gentlemen!!

i think now would be time for you too upgrade to someting a bit newer as they have stopped support for suse 10 and you wont be able too find alot of applications or their dependencies

I'm with waterhead. Audacity is the best and simplest multi-featured sound recorder/editor. We've used it for years in broadcast radio and it does the job for us. Go to their site and download it there. There might be an "all inclusive" type RPM you can install.

When I opened my eyes this morning I knew I was going to have a good day. I went to J&R and bought a 3.5mm jack splitter for my two computer microphones. The sky got very dark and the rain blew horizontal from the strong wind but I kept on smiling.

When I got home I received a long distance phone call from a female friend. After a tuna sandwich, and some ice cream, I sat in from of my computer and found the files I needed to install Audacity. I installed the files and Audacity without a hitch.

I'm now completely ready to gather soundtracks for my next website: Zoo York Wild Kingdom Building ( zywkb.com ) ( New York landlords are just notorious and mine deserves some bad publicity. ).

Around midnight I'll find out whether I lucked out and hit the N.Y. lottery.
