Doesn't GRUB Menu at startup give an option for Rescue mode?
You can boot up in Single User Mode easily. Highlight SuSe option in GRUB Menu and type single. Hit Enter key.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I have in my GRUB Menu an option - "Failsafe-Open SuSE 11.0".
Is that my Rescue mode ?

Yes, thats a Rescue mode only. You can sort out almost all problems in that mode.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
