Iam new to this forum d linux(suse) , but wanna discuss abt my issues abt the new suse 11.

I thought that suse will be tough to start with ..but k i cleared my error from opensuse.org forums..

But i think that this is having some problems again..i was trying to install one software with YAST in the middle the computer hanged up..so i tried to open the terminal ..but it too not responded so i restarted the dydtem ..then the desktop became WHITE SCREEN..

Is there any other method than repairing ??


another Request to u people where do u find software for opensuse..with instructions? mostly they r not giving any instructions !!! so help me also abt that..

which player ur using to hear music.like winamp?? i installed amarok but it says no MP3 support then wat to do??i installed Vlc player there i could run the movies but no sound comes up....But my audio driver works fine....

help the open suse 11 users!!!

Hi there could not really understand what you wanted do with yast but i can give you a few pointers hope this helps first to get multimedia playback in opensuse go here Multimedia - openSUSE-Community this will install all the necessary codecs for you to get amarok to play mp3 you need to install amarok-xine or is it xine-amarok any way please note the default opensuse repo's are slow (especially for me) So it might take a while .

To be able to install more packages with yast you need to set up the repositries Additional YaST Package Repositories - openSUSE this will help you install more packages and keep up to date
As to your sound problem you can first check the volume on kmix see if its not turned down you can increase volume in the mixer tab if the volume is already up on all the slides you will have to use yast too set up your sound card
