    [SOLVED] Switching to Linux Help

I just got Open SuSe11 and I want to replace my windows vista with it. My question is, if I install Linux as my main OS, will I still be able to run windows based programs, ie. (photoshop, dreamweaver, or music production software made for windows)? I just hate windows vista, and I like the presentation and usability Linux offers. Any information will help, considering I am new to Linux. Thanks.

    Welcome to the forums!

You might be able to run them using WINE:

For the most part, no. You won't be able to run any programs designed for Microsoft Windows on Linux. They're just completely different systems.

There are ways to run *some* programs using a go-between such as WINE. However be warned: the performance and stability of these programs varies wildly depending on your setup, the version of WINE you're using, and what specific program you're trying to run.

If you have an established set of programs you must run, I would recommend continuing to run them in Microsoft Windows using a dual-boot setup.
