I know that, but I didn't get a yast-compatable file from 00o.org-currently down for service.

I don't know how to make an rpm,and heck I wish SuSe would make that an automatic one click operation from a tar.gz file. accessable from a pulldown in Yast if necessary, And a get from the desktop service, since that's the default download point. it can't be that hard, surely?

I think what he meant was that you should upgrade your OOo packages using the official openSUSE repos (i.e. via YaST). If you want the latest builds for openSUSE, enable the OOo repos from YaST -> Software -> Community Repositories. If you really want to use the package you downloaded, you have to uninstall the openSUSE OOo, then unzip the tar.gz package and install the rpms that are located in RPMS subdirectory of the directory that you extracted. Post back if you need more help.

The repostories that I meant are the Openoffice repsotories listed in the link you were given by scrarfussi.
