DVD hang and lag in 11.0
I've been running the same laptop with all the same hardware with suse 10.2, 11.0, and even Mandriva 2007 and 2008. I've never had a problem with the DVD player. trying to watch movies on the go is awful. In a small window, there's no problem at all. Maximized or full screen hangs, lags, jerks and so on. Strangely, the sound is stable throughout. Is this a problem with a codec? Deinterlace settings?

Do you have the correct video driver installed? Also if you are using desktop effects such as Compiz in 11.0 that you weren't watching before that could be a cause of the problem.

that's unbelievable! i disabled Desktop Effects and the problem is solved. i was not running any of the cool compiz effects, just shadows and wobbly windows.
but how is it that i could run full desktop cube with fast rotations, wobbly windows and transparencies with Mandriva 2007-8 and never experience any video problems, DVD or otherwise?
