    latest stable version of Suse

    Dear friends, i want to know which is the latest stable version of Suse avaible for use, is it Suse Linux 10.3, or still there is more advanced version available.

    What is the difference between the "stable" version and "released" version. secondly what is differnce in "Opensuse" and simple suse. I being a new user switching from the XP, i want to be very sure of the system b4 i use it furtur. please guide me.

    Well technically any x.0 release is stable. In fact they are labelled Major.Minor, so 10.3 was the third 'minor release' after the major 10.0 release.

    The latest stable openSUSE release is 11.0. Anything you've seen to the contrary would most likely be in relation to the fact the KDE 4.0 shipped with it and that itself was considered to be lacking in stability. If you use the Gnome desktop you should be fine with 11.0.

    I have installed OpenSuse 10.3, is it also a stable system to use. What does "open" mean.

    Open means that all the source code is available to you for what ever you want to use it for as long as you pass the same rights on to anyone you might distribute any changes you make.
