When possible, it's best (in my opinion) to use your default package utility to install software. In Suse, I believe that's YaST:
YaST - openSUSE
If no Firefox 3.0.1 package is available in the Suse repositories, you can search Google to see if you can find an RPM package available and install from that, or you can download the source for Firefox and install from that. Check the following link for details on different methods of installing software under Linux:

Otherwise, you can download Firefox 3.0.1 for Linux directly from the Mozilla website, unpack the file, drop the new Firefox folder into your /home/username directory, and then run Firefox directly from there by clicking on the firefox file found inside it.oz
