    Lost focus

Hi there, the situation - I have two monitors each with 10 desktops with lots of applications and until yesterday everything worked fine. One shutdown later and my main monitor only has one desktop which I can't change, all the windows have no border or controls, so no resizing, moving etc, and can only close things by using the file menu. Also nothing on that screen will take keyboard focus, hence no consoles or input boxes working.

I am using Suse 10.2 with KDE 3.5.9 and Linux 2.6.18.8-0.7-default i686 if this is any help. I can get everything to work on the other monitor so I can get into yast but up until now I can't get things back to how it was.

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before and if so if there is a quick solution, other that a full reinstall.

    Thanks Karl

    Just some guesses

    Try reinstalling your video driver.

rename .kde in your home directory stop and restart X this will bring you back to a default KDE you would then need to reset all your desktop configurations. Or you could copy back from the old .kde parts until you find what was broken.

Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately this has not worked, even though removing .kde did result in my working monitor looking a lot better. Think that I'm going to have to reinstall ( reminds me of my windows days when a reinstall was required every few weeks ).

    Thanks, Karl.
