openSuse 11 install fails (kind of)

I just got a new computer and installed openSuse. The install went fine until I had to reboot and I got an message saying "Install didn't complete successfully, you may have to enter some settings again." I went through the settings - it didn't ask me for anything - and got to the login screen and my username wasn't there. I logged in as root and created my user account again and rebooted to see if everything worked. I got the same message as above but my account was created and I could log in. I was going to update, but didn't because my wireless didn't work and I didn't feel like setting it up, to be honest. The configuration that runs every time I reboot has something to do with xorg, if I remember correctly. Should I get my wireless working and update to see if that fixes the problem? - does anyone have any other suggestions?

    My hardware:
    cpu - e8400
    mb - Gigabyte x48-ds4
    ram - 4 GB OCZ
    video - 2 x ATI HD4850
    hd - 2 x 500 GB Seagate
    wireless - linkys wmp54g

Try doing another clean install and see if that helps. If the problem persists, then try an update.

I reinstalled and had the same problem but it went away when I installed the wrong drivers for my wireless card.
