    Problems with Octave 3.0 installation

    Hi everyone!
I've been trying to install Octave 3.0 on Suse 10.1. Currently I have several problems:
    1. "./configure" complains about Readline 4.2 missing. I installed Readline 5.2 and also 4.2, and it seems that these installations went fine. Yet I am still getting the same output from "configure".

    2. Trying "make" after "./configure --disable-readline" results with:
"cpp: error trying to exec 'cc1plus': execvp: No such file or directory".
I tried re intalling g++, gcc etc. No luck so far.

I would really appreciate any help with this as I am fairly new to Linux installations.
(also how do I un-install? How so I check whether Readline is installed?)

    Thanks,
    Amir

Smile Installing from gOS produced nice Octave installations

    Hello Amir,
I installed gOS-Ubuntu from a live CD, then completed with gnuplot and octave3.0; but I still have an error regarding X11 driver and gnuplot_X11...
