    greetings i was wondering without breaking the bank too buy new soundcard what is the best way too get the best sound out of your system i know we have different sound servers etc surely there must be one that haS good sound eg the helix realplayer when i play the same song in amarok it dont sound as good as amarok and when i'm in windows musicmatch has the best sound these tests done on same hardware so my question does anyone know a few hacks for me to get better sound out of amarok
    i was soo desperate for better sound i even tried pulseaudio it only worked for one night and thats it i cant get it too work maybe cause i'm using kde
    anyway i'm using opensuse 11 thanx

    I connect from sound card to technic's amp and speakers So Whats left is the source my sound is really good at the mo just wanna squeeze What extra i can or lets say get musicmatch sound quality in linux . I have this fear of spending R400 to buy a new soundcard only too find the difference is minimal

    You did not say what card you have now. IMO the high end cards don't offer much in the way of better quality. The do offer more bells and whistles.

    I'm running off the chips on the MB (Intel I think) and my first set of speakers where crap I think $15 US. The sound was tinny and distorted. I bought a set of 3 way (2 speakers and base) Logitech ($50) And I'm very happy with the sound.
    Ok it does not rattle the windows but the quality is very good.

    To get the best sound you must have impedance match of the card output and what ever you have as an amp and speakers.

    Its all good i do have good sound just wanted too see If i could get more out of my system

    Unfortunately i am a bit of an audiophile So yeah thats Why i didnt wanna buy a soundcard But i've foundthe cause of some of my problems one of my cables was not making a proper connection hence Why i felt something was wrong with my current setup But now I'm happy again thanx any How
