    Apache is next

I have tried to install and learn about Apache on a windows machine. Ha, it semed that all the literature I found at the bookstores was all based on linux machines. Needless to say I got lost early on and lost interest quickly. I am also wanting to learn more about command prompts. This will help me with the apache commands I think.

Ok Now I am looking for apache on this new linux machine. I am so lost. Can someone help? I have downloaded apache 2.2.9 I think. If apache is not in SUSE I need to learn how to install the apache I have downloaded.

It is always best to install via Yast and the Suse repositories unless you really know what you are doing or have some special need for a version not available via the Software Administration function in Yast.

If you installed via a DVD it is very likely that Apache is on the DVD again install via Yast.

If you installed via a CD you will need to connect to the OpenSuse repository and to install via Yast.

If you fif the regestration step you are connected to the basic repositories

Here is a link, it is a bit old but does cover all the basics of installing

Cool Solutions: Installing Apache, PHP, and MySQL on SUSE Linux Professional

apache is apache2 from the command line.

    You might also try

    man apache2

    from the command line.
