    how to choose session from terminal

    i have kde4.1 ,3.5.9 xfce fvwm and two other sessions 9cant remember the names when i login from terminal and type startx it automatically staets up kde3.5.9 i was wondering is it possible too choose which session i wanna log into when i type startx thanx

    Which session you get depends on the file $HOME/.xinitrc. startx is actually a script which references this file. You might be able to get round this by creating separate .xinitrc-type files for your sessions (for example .xinitrc-fvwm) and edit /usr/bin/startx so that it takes the filename from its first argument instead of defaulting to .xinitrc. Then you could type something like "startx .xinitrc-fvwm" or "startx .xinitrc-xfce".
