Brother MFC-465CN Will Not Print
Is anyone using the Brother MFC-465CN with OpenSuse 11.0, KDE 4.1? I downloaded the lpr and cups wrapper driver from the Brother website and installed them. I am using it as a network printer. I can ping the printer. When I try to print a test page , the printer responds by displaying "Receiving Data." But then it stops and there is not output. I tried installing it as a USB directly connected printer and again do not get any response when I try to print. Is it simply just not compatible?
I have the Brother MFC-7820N in my office as a Network printer/scanner and it worked right out of the box on OpenSuse 11.0, KDE 4.1

Sorry, I don't have any experience with that printer, but according to OpenPrinting.org, your printer works "mostly" under Linux:
OpenPrinting database - Printer: Brother MFC-465-cn
Hopefully the page above will help in some way.oz

Thanks Ozar. I must have lucked out with the Brother MFC-7820N. I assumed that all Brother printers that have Linux drivers available for download at the Brother web site (Brother Solutions Center : Brother Driver for Linux Distributions) would work perfectly.
I will check the Open Printing database (OpenPrinting - The Linux Foundation) before purchasing my next printer. So far it is 100% accurate in my case - the Brother MFC-7820N has worked "perfectly", while the MFC-465CN is rated as "mostly."

I'm not sure that it's always correct though because I just purchased the Brother HL-5250DN, and it too is reported to work "mostly", but so far it seems to be working perfectly.
I've not done lots of printing with it, or any complicated print jobs, so maybe I'll run into those things that don't work sometime down the road.
Best of luck with your printer(s).
