    Welcome to the forums major_glory

You should install applications using the package manager for your distro ... for SUSE this is Yast. Start Yast and go to software management. Make sure you have software repositories enabled also

    Welcome to the forums!

You can check this HowTo for the steps on using YAST to install software:

    YaST/Modules/Software Management - openSUSE

You can find additional software repositories here, should you need them:

Additional YaST Package Repositories - openSUSE

    Hope you enjoy running openSUSE.

Ok which version of Suse are you running??

If older then 10.3 then use Installation source to set up your repositories.

The newer versions have a lot of public repositories pre listed the older version you must enter the repository information yourself.

You need the GURU repository for comix. most other stuff you can get from packman

    Let's go slowly here.

Try installing amarok first. Type "amarok" into the YAST search box just like you did before, and see if it's in there. If so, go ahead and install it, if not, write back here with exactly what happened.

That means that it's expecting your installation DVD to be in the drive. Put the DVD in, and try the operation again.
