    I have a quick newb question, how do I install executable files? clicking isnt working haha =/

    they aren't .exe files are they? cos if they are, then linux can't run them natively. If the file ends in .exe then you have to use WINE.

    no it just says executable and it looks like a "blue gear" icon

    linux doesnt use .exe files i think linspire does but no others they use .tar or .rpm

    well I think its an executable file when i right click it it says executable, but alot of my linux files say that

    well then open up a shell and cd to the directory where the file is and:
    Code:
    ./filename
    -lakerdonald

    yea =/ i tried that to it says " I wont write compressed files to the terminal"

    that isnt really a "executable" file...
    its a zipped, or "bzipped" archived file
    befor you can execute it, you have to unzip it
    i belive with bzips, u can use
    Code:
    tar -jxvf filename.bzip2
