Only Able to Login as Root User

Something strange has happened. After a reboot, I am unable to login under my user account (mike). I am only able to login as the root user. I am running OpenSuse 11.0, KDE 4.1.2.

This is a recent installation (about 2 weeks ago) and everything has been normal until today. When I installed the OS I created my user account "mike" with the password to be the same as the root user. I had also disabled the login screen so that I would automatically be logged in. There is no "login failed" message, I just do not move pass the login screen. If I purposefully type the wrong password, I then get a "login failed" message.

I have gone into Yast under my root account and changed the password for my user account. I still had the same problems - unable to get pass the login screen. I also created a second user and when I login as the second user, I do get pass the login screen only to see a black screen with a message box in the upper left corner that says:

"Call to lnusertemp failed (temporary directories full?). Check your installation."

In summary, I can only login as the root user. Please advise.

    Thanks HROAdmin26!

My issue was a "large" file issue. I still retained ownership of my home directory. I am using Xen for virtualization and the /var/lib/xen directory was 20GB with 0B free. I have two windows XP images ( 8GB, 12GB) located there and I deleted the 8GB image. I am able to log in again as my regular user.

I do not understand why Xen would choose to put the images in /var/lib which has a capacity of 20GB rather than my home directory which has 125GB free. I will have to look into some more of the Xen documentation to figure out what is best practice for running multiple virtual machines.
