    Help: video drivers

    ok i have some video drivers but it wont let me install them because im on x server or something like that after that issue i should be set with my new linux OS thanks to the people on the forums anyways if u can help leave a reply thx

    We're going to need more information than that to go on. I assume you're using openSuSE since you posted this here. What version? What kind of video hardware do you have on your computer? What do you mean when you say "it won't let me install"?

    openSuSE 11.0 Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE it gives me a error message say something like you seem to be using x server or soemthing like that

    Ah. Well, first I'd see if you can install the drivers using YaST. It's easier. If not, log out and log into a terminal session and run your script again.

    Where did you get the driver?

    What is the error message?

    Xserver is the basic graphics engine used by most Linus Desktops. It must and should be there. You can shut down the Desktop and thereby Xserver by pressing ctrl-alt-backspace.

    To install from the downloaded NVIDIA installer you will also need to have gcc (the c compiler) and the kernel-source. These can be installed by Yast.
