To fix dependency problems install the packages which are missing that are required by the main package you are installing. Note that sometimes those packages require other packages which may require yet other packages. This is known as dependency hell.

A better way is to install via Yast using the Suse repositories. This way all dependences are addressed and corrected automatically.

That is why I suggested to use Yast to install from the repository it will resolve all these problems.

It can be very hard to determine which package supplies which libraries. If you insist on doing it the hard way, I suggest you Google the file name.

No Yum is not used in Suse. Suse uses RPM and the installer in Suse is in the Yast utility

From the menu select Yast-Software-Software Management.

Search for claimav and install it.

There is no need to compile from source.

Finding any software which is installed or not installed on SuSe is easy.

First Start Yast go to Software and then Software Management(Please make sure for CD/DVD from which you install SuSe is available in CD/DVD drive.)

this will brigng you the search dialog.

Now you can search the softwares those are part of SuSe.

for your information that CLAMAV is part of SuSe.

    Enjoy
