    Problem installing a Video Player

    hello friends...
I am a new user to Linux and I have started my Linux journey with Suse 10.2 and I kindaa liked it....
My problem is that I dont have a working Video Player installed in it ..I
tried KMPlayer but it says MPlayer is required but when I try to install Mplayer it doesnt install ....I have also downloaded binaries of Mplayer but dont know how to make it work...

Please anybody help me to install a video player if not this one ...All I want is a running video player on my system...

Also if anybody knows to install anyother video player then please give download links as well as step by step process to do it because I am a new user and full step by step procedure would be beneficial...

Did you use Yast or did you try to compile it from source?

Personally I like Kaffeine as a player it should be included in the install or installable via Yast either from the DVD or the Suse repository.

To play restricted formats you will need to add other repositories to Yast.

...also, you might want to check out VLC if you can't get mplayer to work.

If you did a straightforward instal of openSuse, I think you'll find that Kaffeine is already available for you.
I personally think it's the best of the bunch and if you move on to a television card with DVB it will do that too.
