Suse 11.0 3D Desktop help
Hey guys, i just installed suse 11.0 yesterday... ive been stuck on red hat distros and all of the fedoras and now im trying out suse. i have a sapphire radeon hd 3850 agp video card, and when i downloaded the linux driver from ati it kept saying failed checksums and wouldent install. so i tried to use yast to get the driver but i dont really know how to use it yet because im so usto using yum.. anyway i think i may have gotten the driver installed and it also installed a dev kernel.. whenever i boot to the dev kernel or the default kernel now i can enable desktop effects.. but the entire screen turns white and when i ctrl+alt+click and drag the cube moves really choppy and slow and is just all white, then i have to restart X... does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this? could i have installed somehting wrong with yast? if anyone has any ideas id really appreciate it thanks.

UPDATE: okay so i figured out how to use yast i beleive... and i think i installed the ati driver... however when i type "aticonfig -initial" it says it cant find the correct file... so i do "ati config --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf" and it goes okay and uses that.. however when i do "sax2 -r -m 0=radeon" i get an error and it tells me to look at the log file... i feel like im getting close to getting this right but im not there yet... does anyone know anything about ati drivers and suse??? pleease?
thanks everyone

Hello,
I have a ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO (RV610 94C3) card. I followed the directions at the OpenSuse site ( ATI - openSUSE ) and used the one click install. After that, 3D effects worked for me.
