    11- No sound, and another issue

    Hello. I am running openSUSE 11 and I am installing mythTV. I am trying to install the necessary Restricted Multimedia Formats for GNOME from this site: Restricted Formats/11.0 - openSUSE-Community

    Which enables me to have
    * Flash
    * Java
    * Latest Amarok (with MP3 Support) for KDE, or Helix-Banshee for GNOME users
    * Encrypted DVD (libdvdcss)
    * Extra xine codecs, for MPEG-4 etc. (libxine1)
    * K3b with MP3 Support (k3b-codecs)
    * Win 32 Codecs (w32codec-all)

    however I am unable to do this. whenever I try to I get an error message saying: "there are some conflicts on the transaction that must be solved manually.

    gstreamer-0_10-ffmpeg-0.10.5-42.pm.1.i586 requires gstreamer-0_10>=0.10.20, but this requirement cannot be provided."

    This happens whenever I try to install or update any of the codecs.

    ALSO, I have no sound. I have a creative sound blaster audigy 2 sb0400 and I have no sound. I have followed this guide (SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE) up until step 3. I was following this part: "wget http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh

    then run the script alsa-info.sh (copy and paste this into a gnome-terminal/konsole):

    bash alsa-info.sh"

    But i get this back: "bash: /usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh: No such file or directory"

    Go to yast and see what version of gstreamer is installed. You may need to add the community repositories to get the versio you need.

    I'd try to get sound working before adding things that may change the sound system.

    Have you run alsaconf as root?

    Also since you have a sound blaster you may need to add your user to the audio group.

    In Yast (note almost all configurations can be done in Yast)

    Yast-Security & Users-User Management
