Dual Monitor Trouble with fglrx driver on OpenSuse 11

I am unable to get dual monitors to work with my ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO graphics card on OpenSuse 11.0. However I do have Compiz and 3D effects working.

I have two Samsung Syncmaster 2253BW's connected to my ATI Card. When my PC boots, both monitors show the System Bios screen and OpenSuse splash screen. However once my PC is up, only one monitor will display the login screen. On PC shutdown, the Open Suse splash screen displays on both monitors. When I attempt to activate dual head mode in SAX2 my test fails and displays the following message:

    Testing Configuration Failed
    SaX library: Success
X configuration: Data incomplete in file /var/lib/sax/xorg.conf Undefined Screen "Peo@" referenced by ServerLayout "(null)".

I have done the following and not sure where to start next:

1.I installed the driver “x11- video-fglrxG01” via the one click install from the OpenSuse web site (ATI - openSUSE) and followed the directions.

2.I verified that I have added the ATI repository (http://www2.ati.com/suse/11.0) and I also double checked that I have the latest version of the fglrxG01 driver (8.532-1-1-x86_64) installed in YaST.

3.I have the following files in my /etc/X11 directory and have no idea which one I need to check.

    /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.fglrx-0
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf-post
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.install
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.md5
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.original-0
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.saxsave

I have read negative things about the ATI card and am wondering if I need to go with a Nvidia card in order to run dual monitors. Please advise.

    Regards,

After weeks of struggling and pouring over forum tutorials on manipulating xorg.conf files I finally have dual monitors working on my desktop!! I have two Samsung Synmaster 2253BW's with a Radeon HD 2400 Pro video card. I have one monitor connected via VGA and the other via DVI. Both monitors have 1680X1050 resolution. All this was accomplished with ATI's Catalyst Control Center. I did not have to manually edit the xorg.conf file. The Catalyst Control Center allowed me to set up dual monitors rather easily. Here is what I did:

    1. I followed the "Hard Way" instructions at OpenSuse's site

    ATI - openSUSE

    a. Made sure I add the necessary packages
    b. Prepared the kernel for new drivers.
c . Made sure to remove previous drivers.

    2. Went to ATI's site to download latest driver and followed installation instructions.

    Drivers & Software

    3. Once the driver was installed I launched the Catalyst Control Center ( at command line with root privileges type "amdcccle") and configured everything.
