I only have 5GB free can i squeeze SuSe here
Would 5GB of space be sufficient if i installed SuSe on my old Toshiba laptop.I was thinking of replacing the Ubuntu 8.04 I already dualboot with XP sp2 with openSuSe simply because I admire SuSe besides having green as my favourite colour!
Thanks in advance.

only if you can do a bare minimum install & don't want to store stuff in /home.my install including swap took up 3GB, then, with updates, increased to 4.5GB. Mind you, i did have SuSE on a 6Gb drive once, but that was SUSE 8.2, waaaaay back then.

5GB space is not enough. You should allocate atleast 8-10 GB for Suse.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I agree with these guys and think it's not worth the effort to try to install to a 5 GB partition. Suse is one of the heavier distros and if you should add one file too many, it won't boot any more.
Maybe you can shrink some other partitions a bit then expand the Suse partition. The PartedMagic LiveCD is a good tool that can be used for doing that.oz

xperience tells me reserve a space greater than 10 GB.(that is if you let it make partitions automatically.) If manual partitioning is your prefered choice 5GB "might work" only for a short time.
Just go for space>10
