    Exclamation Device mapper Error!!!!

    Hi
    whenever i try to boot my linux (suse) it displays an
    Error : Activate Device Mapper

    Meanwhile my Xp is alright`
    but it gets hanged immeadietly after booting..

    Plx help me

    Hmm lots of possibilities.

    Have you tried to set up LVM options either in Linux or Windows?

    You need to tell use more. What did you do just before the problem occurred?

    i did nothing ..
    My friends are telling it may be due to virus..
    But im sure its not due to virus..
    Wats ur idea????
    Can i re-install linux

    I doubt its a virus unless a Windows virus has messed up your partitions.

    It could also be just bad sectors on the hard drive.

    Get a bootable CD such as gparted and do a fdisk -l as root from its console. See if you have valid partitions on your hard drive. To have both OS's messed up at the same time is very odd.

    LVM is logical volume management. It seem that the error in Linux is coming from that. If you don't know about it chances are you don't have it turned on or installed.
