newbiew help - upgrades
hi friends,
i'm new to suse....
i'm looking for couple of things which i'm ...
1. how do i upgrade firefox to a new version - current installed version is 2
and i would like to switch to 3.
i tried downloading the file and follow a note i found in one of the forums - but
than it starts yelling that othet stuff is missing like gtk...
i know from that there is an "easy" way to do that by requsting the package
but i couldn't find the place where i can find the server and rpm file - i don't
know how to use that...
2. is there a place where i can find a decent book on the net which will help me
start understanding what's going on...
Thanks in advance,

For upgrading packages in the *buntu distros, it's usually as simple as using Synaptic to upgrade them, or you can use apt from the command line:
...of course the package you want has to reside in your enabled package repositories.Code:sudo apt-get install package_name
For some free online books, do a forum search in the Coffee Lounge for ebooks, or books. The links to them have been posted there countless times.oz

Oops! It looks to me as if this was posted in the wrong forum. If it's SuSE you're using and not one of the *buntus, you install compiled programs via the YaST control centre. There's a SuSE forum a little further down the page...
