Using OpenSuse as webserver
Hi,
Im totally new with SuseLinux but would like to use it for my webserver. I dont want to use windows due to security reasons and this was recommended. I want to configure the server so that people would need to provide credentials to be able to view the website. Can someone point me to a tutorial or step by step on how to set it up..
thanks...Last edited by jigo; 11-17-2008 at 07:55 PM. Reason: title

I would start with a Google search for HOWTO APACHE SUSE.
That should give you enough reading material for a good while.

Do you want a demo of a webserver or do you want instructions on how to set one up? If it's the latter, then there are lots of tutorials out there for setting up a LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) server. Use Google for that. If you don't have much web development experience, I would recommend a framework like Drupal, which makes the process very simple. Once you have Drupal set up, you can administer your site from an easy to use web interface, without having to know the technical details. It can also be extended to satisfy your authentication requirements.
Good luck.
