Hi and welcome to the forum.

Take a look at this article for details on how to enable proprietary multimedia formats on openSUSE 10.2.

I found this usefull. Hacking openSUSE 10.2 - Software in Review Why not SUSE 11.0? It is even easier. Multimedia - openSUSE-Community I like vlc. If you visit the vlc web site and click on download, there is a similar automated installation for SUSE. If you want to use Amarok with xine, you must use YaST to first remove xine-lib.

In addition, if you need something that is not in a repository, you can try RPM Search. You can search by distro under advanced search. Though I found no xampp for 10.3.

You woun't or can't consider openSUSE 11.0 but as a pair they seem suited for one another http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.htmlother This version of xampp seems to install itself. You could try it with 10.2.
