KDE Sound System is broken (notifications)

Hello I am new to this Forum, my name is Joseph. Okay here is my problem....

My KDE Sound system if not functioning properly. Please keep in mind that im not talking about sound over all because games, movies, and music all work fine, even KDE applications such as Amarok play sound flawlessly. Im talking about notification sounds such as the ones you hear when KDE shows a pop up message, like an error message or anything of that nature.

Here is whats going on. The system is enabled, the login and log off sounds work and error message sounds work as well, in fact every action in the "system notification" event source drop down menu in the KDE Control Panel works. The ones that don't work are the actions in the "KDE Window Manager" all items have a sound assigned to them and they all play when you click the play icon for previewing. I have played around with various settings and still not working. I have even tried the "use external player" setting and set it to play with "artsplay" and still the same result "nothing"

Also keep in mind that I use Kopete and it has a section for its sounds as well and they work perfectly just like the system notifications.

Here is some various information about my set up that may help:

openSUSE 11.0 x86_64
KDE 3.5.9
Kernel 2.6.25.5-1.1
Using AMD Athlon x64 2.1Ghz
aRts 1.5.9-33.1
ALSA 1.0.16-39.1
xine

also using cmopiz 0.7.4-31.1 (dont know why it would matter but who knows)

I also have the package for mp3 support for aRts installed

and here is what my ~.kde/share/config/knotifyrc says

I know my system is fine without all this but its just very annoying to me about how its not working and I have tried everything and searched everywhere for a soultion, so far I noticed a few people having this problem yet no soultion.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could give me your thoughts of what it could be

HaHa well I figured out what was wrong, Compiz! When it's runing it takes control over the system notification thingy. All this time and hard work its just a simple little thing. I feel stupid!
