only one console OR printk output to main console only

I am using SUSE 10.2. How do I configure the system so printk output go to the main console (Ctrl-Alt-F1) as opposed to virtual console (Ctrl-Alt-F10)? Failing that, how can I configure the system to use only one main console? Many thanks.
