ubuntu better ?
might be this is not a forum to compare' distros.
i have received the ubuntu 8.10 desktop edition cd and i am thinking of trying it.
can somebody tell me which one is better. i would like to know the pros and cons.
i care for excellent graphics like that in suse11.
also i heard ubuntu doesnt give more applications like suse or fedora and its like a base version.
i have tried only mandrake 10, suse 10 and suse11 among which suse11 satisfied me.
have anyone tried both of these suse11 and ubuntu8.10 (atlest ubuntu of some version which is not that old) to give me a true idea.

If it is a Ubuntu 8.10 live CD, you know you can pop it in and boot it up in live mode, test drive it to compare it to what you were used to in Suse 11 and decide for yourself. Happy Trails.

ubuntu better ?

NO, you most certainly do not have to install Ubuntu over your existing system to try it. What rokytnji is talking about is running the OS from the CD, without touching your harddrive at all.
On newer versions of Ubuntu all you have to do to run it from the Live CD is boot with the CD in the drive and choose "Try Ubuntu without any change to your computer." This option is available on older versions as well, but it's called "Boot from LiveCD" if I'm not mistaken.Registered Linux user #270181

For comparisons, I would suggest using VirtualBox from Sun. It is free, and works very well (in fact, my SuSE runs in VB at the moment from a Vista host). That should give you a pretty good idea of what works best for you.
