Suse 6.1 was the first Linux distro I ever tried...9 years ago!!
I can't stress this strong enough, try OpenSuse 11.0 or Suse Enterprise 10. It is like comparing a WWII Spitfire with a last generation Euro-fighter Typhoon or F-35!
If you want 6.4 for historical reasons, I found this link, but it is in German & I can't understand what it want me to do to let me download it...
PS:In 4 days, v11.1 of OpenSuse is released, so you may want to wait.

l4linux,
I am running 10.3 64 bit on my servers (postfix, spamassassin, mysql, squirrelmail, apache2, tomcat5). I would be curious to hear your comments re: 11.0 vs. 10.3. Did you migrate from 10.3 to 11.0? Any issues?

cheapscotchron
I have both running on the same box. Both were fresh installs. 10.3 does some things better but doesn't load the avansys scsi module for my scsi card.
If it's critical, upgrade on a test system first, otherwise use a fresh install.

Agreed. I would NEVER upgrade a production machine without regression and UAT.
Just curious if there was some feature/benefit that caused you to upgrade.
I read the various posts about the new features, but didnt really see anything that would cause me to upgrade now. I dont like being "bleeding edge". Bill Gates taught me that (the hard way).

I haven't played with linux for a few years and played with 10.3 from a magaxine and was impressed at how far it had come. The last boxed version I had used was 7, so it had come a long way.
I then got fed up with Mr Gates asking for me to renew my friendship fees and wanted a cheaper alternative to getting another mail server going and for network storage. Since I have always liked suse and redhat, I then tried 11 and was found it worked fine - I have now been almost M$ free for a few months, except for the odd app that will only run on windows.
I tried the live gnome 11.1 cd and was impressed that for a live cd most of the networking functionality like nfs works out the box - most other distros are more concerned with interfacing with windows than linux.
Trouble with 10 is that it will probably be retired in the next year when 12 comes out, so depending on how much you want to roll your own and compile the updated apps you need - like evolution, say.
I am sure there are plenty of people out there that installed a distro years ago and have rolled their own upgrades as and when required.
You don't have to take all the lates stuff though. I still run win2k on some older machines!
