welcome to suse linuxs enterprise desktop 10 sp1..random numbers..default (tty1)
its all on a black screen and i have no idea what to do....Ive tried using my user name but i cant enter the password....im pretty sure its something simple i have to do but...im a newbie with Linux..can someone help?
what do you mean you cant enter the password? Usually the password in console mode it`s invisible i mean the password is typing there but you cant see it for security reason.Registered Linux user #471256
Don`t give up so easy...
For some reason you are starting in runlevel 3 which is terminal mode. Notmally runlevel 5 is GUI
Log on as root ie type root for the user name.
Enter the root password Note this does not echo to the screen!!!
type init 5
This should bring up the GUI if it does not tell use the error messages.
