Auto Detect CD or DVD in Optical Drive
I'm using opensuse 11.1 with KDE 4.2 and my CD player no longer mounts data cds. The system knows the player is there, knows when a cd is loaded, will play audio cds (not automatically) and will burn audio/data to the cds but will not mount an existing data cd automatically.
I have to go into a console and manually mount the disk before I can see the contents in Konqueror (or Dolphin or 'ls' in console).
So it seems that HAL isn't doing his job.
I've tried playing around with permissions, does anyone have any ideas?Last edited by peteh; 01-31-2009 at 05:53 PM. Reason: change heading

Obviously not an interesting topic! Only 27 views and no suggestions.
It's not a major problem but it's irritating. Any help would be appreciated.Pete

Was it an upgrade install? Did the problem start or did it come with 11.1?
Try running as another user. It could be that it is old configs left laying about.

Also in 11.1, you need to add users to the cd group for full cd access.
