    suse linux installation problem

    Dear all,

when i try to install suse linux from cd 1 (on SATA CDROM)
it says " unable to mount cd rom"
however when i install it using IDE cdrom it works fine.
i think it is not able to use SATA cdrom.

probably i'll have to load some module for SATA CD ROM.
And i have not downloaded this software from net. i have the
    original cds from OEM.

After starting and showing the nice graphical screen I get this message that Suse can't find the installation CD-Rom, although it started the installation procedure!!! This is really silly.

    pls help

Which version of Suse are you trying to install?

Latest version of SLES is 10 SP2 and I would suggest you to install that only.

In case you want to stick with SLES 9 only, check here.

Download "SuSe x86" DVD or CD-KDE or CD-Gnome from here.

RHEL is not free. You have to purchase its license. Download Fedora 10 or CentOS. Both are based on RedHat and free to download/install.
