Hmmmm, that's not easy. You're trying to build your own initrd. A lot can go wrong. But there is light, mkinitrd is 'just' a BASH script (in the same sense that a Bentley is 'just' a car
) so it's not undoable to back trace where it's going wrong even if your C skillz are rusty.
But I must confess, I've given up on building my own initrd's because of the delicate process involved in making them and just steal an existing one. It's not at all too difficult to take an initrd from some source (the install CD/DVD for example) open it up (`man cpio`) adjusting it (`chroot` can come in handy) and close it again using some voodoo I can't remember (I believe I pipe the output of find through cpio again and redirect that somewhere, but I have an alias on a machine somewhere that handles the details). I could look it up if you like.Can't tell an OS by it's GUI
