Can't set wallpaper in dolphin
I upgraded a while ago to KDE 4.2 using the non-stable repo. OpenSUSE's "one-click install" was rather horrendous, as there were plenty of core packages that weren't installed. I'm pretty sure that you can set the wallpaper in dolphin, as well as in Gwenview (KDE 4's default image viewer), but this functionality is missing. Is there some sort of plugin package that I am missing?

Are you wanting to change the background in the Dolphin window itself, or change the background for the entire desktop from within Dolphin?
I'm not running KDE 4.2 right now but when I ran it last you could right-click on the desktop to get an option to change wallpaper. Is that not working for you?oz

In Gwenview, check the Settings -> Configuration -> KIPI Plugins and see if the Set Wallpaper Plugin is enabled or greyed out. If not available, you may need to seek out aditional plugins. Setting a background from Gwenview is located on the menu bar - Plugins -> Images -> Set as Background -> ... when it's enabled.
